Colours revealed for Smith’s GT debut

SUPERCARS regular Jack Smith will make his GT World Challenge Australia debut as part of a 13-car field this weekend at Mount Panorama.

Smith will share an Audi R8 LMS GT3 with Tim Miles – the man who has orchestrated the past two sales of the Supercars business.

For the occasion, which will culminate in a three-hour enduro, they’ll don a livery combining the two businesses they’re associated with: SCT Logistics and Miles Advisory Partners.

“I think the car looks awesome, but they look great anyway,” said Smith.

“It’s difficult to make one of these Audis look bad.

“But it really doesn’t matter what it looks like. It’s what happens on the track that counts and that is the full focus for Bathurst.”

The Brad Jones Racing driver, who crashed out late in last month’s Repco Bathurst 1000, recently tested the Audi at Phillip Island.

“It’s definitely unlike anything that I’ve ever driven before,” the 23-year-old said.

“I knew they have a lot of grip and are aero-dependant, but I was surprised by the performance. The cars also have ABS and traction control which was new to me, but I found them pretty easy to come to grip with and certainly a lot of fun to drive.

“GT racing is something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. A lot of options have been presented, but for different reasons didn’t work.

“This opportunity with Tim had came up and I grabbed it. We tested together really well at Phillip Island, he is a great guy and I’m looking forward to working with him.

“You can never have enough laps around Bathurst. You get better every time you go there. But I’m not putting any expectation on results.

“I’ll need to adapt to the car as quickly as you can and find the best way to make time, which will be different to a Supercar.”
