D’Alberto, Honda commit to 2024 TCR Australia

TCR Australia stalwart Tony D’Alberto has locked in his spot on the 2024 grid with the support of Honda Australia.

D’Alberto has been a consistent frontrunner since TCR Australia launched, winning the 2022 title and finishing runner-up in two of the other three seasons to date (2019 and 2023).

Throughout, D’Alberto has represented Honda. The 37-year-old upgraded to the new Civic Type R FL5 TCR ahead of last month’s Race Sydney, and he responded by beating the TCR World Tour aces to outright pole at the Bathurst International.

D’Alberto will continue in the Type R FL5 next season, which will begin in February at Sandown.

“It’s fantastic to continue with the great support from Honda Australia for the 2024 TCR Australia Series,” said D’Alberto.

“We have achieved some amazing results over the journey, including winning the title in 2022 and finishing second on two other occasions.

“The 2024 season is shaping up to be very competitive, as it always is in TCR, so I’m looking forward to getting back into it for the first round at Sandown.”

Honda Australia director Carolyn McMahon voiced her eagerness to continue backing D’Alberto, who’s expected to once again be a Dick Johnson Racing Supercars co-driver in 2024.

“Honda has a rich history in motorsport and we are thrilled to continue to support Tony in the driver’s seat of the Honda Civic Type R FL5,” said McMahon.

“Together with Tony and Wall Racing, Honda Australia has had great successes over the years on the racetrack.

“Our commitment to Tony and the team in 2024 underscores Honda Australia’s association with high-performance cars both on and off the track.”

Hyundai and HMO Customer Racing heads into 2024 as the team to beat, Josh Buchan and Bailey Sweeny having combined for a one-three in the standings.
