De Pasquale set for expanded Grove Racing role

DICK Johnson Racing Supercars driver Anton De Pasquale will tackle July’s Spa 24 Hour as part of an expanded GT program with Grove Racing.

The news comes as part of confirmation of a full Intercontinental GT Challenge effort from Grove Racing this year in partnership with Earl Bamber Motorsport.

De Pasquale is this weekend contesting Round 1 of the five-round series, the Bathurst 12 Hour, in Grove Racing’s Porsche alongside father and son duo Stephen and Brenton Grove.

He’ll also join the squad for the famous Spa 24 Hours in Belgium on June 29-July 2 and the season-ending Gulf 12 Hours at Abu Dhabi on December 8-10.

Bamber meanwhile will co-drive with the Grove duo at the Kyalami 9 Hour in February and Indianapolis 8 Hour in October, as well as being part of a four-driver roster for Spa.

The Indianapolis date clashes with the Repco Bathurst 1000, meaning neither Brenton nor Stephen will attend the Great Race with their Supercars team.

Although Grove Racing is a rival of DJR in the Repco Supercars Championship, De Pasquale has a long-time relationship with the Groves.

That has included driving for the team in the Dubai 24 Hour, finishing fourth in the 2023 edition of the event last month.

The Spa 24 Hours is the showpiece of the Intercontinental GT Challenge and will see Grove Racing debut a new model GT3 R Porsche.

Preparation for the event will include a two-day test at Spa in May, which De Pasquale and Bamber are both scheduled to attend.
