Double dose of Johnson versus Bowe at Bathurst

JOHNSON and Bowe formed a famous Ford combination that netted a pair of Bathurst 1000 victories but the two surnames will be locked in competition this weekend at the Mountain.

John Bowe is set to race against Dick Johnson’s son Steven in Touring Car Masters and grandson Jett in Australian Production Cars/Invited at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.

For Bowe, it’s the penultimate round of his illustrious TCM career as he looks to add another win in his Holden Torana SL/R 5000.

Across the opening three rounds of the season, Bowe proved the only driver capable of stopping the rampant #33 Johnson Ford Mustang Trans Am, before Ryan Hansford and Joel Heinrich shared the Round 4 spoils at The Bend in August.

Bowe has since picked up a drive in APC/Invited aboard a BMW F82 M4, teaming up with Jacob Lawrence – the pair first racing together last month at The Bend.

They’re part of a 43-car combined field at Bathurst including 10 entries in the Invited (GT4) class.

Jett Johnson falls into the production car side of the equation, sharing a #71 BMW M140i with Paul Buccini.

Also notable will be the category debut of a new Chevrolet Camaro SS of Chris Lillis/Nathan Callaghan.
