BRAD Jones Racing Supercars recruit Jaxon Evans will continue his long-running affiliation with Porsche, for what will be his GT World Challenge Asia debut this weekend.
Evans will reunite with Phantom Global Racing, the team with which he contested this year’s Repco Bathurst 12 Hour – resulting in an outright fourth-place finish.
He’ll team up with Sun JungZu in a Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) for a pair of one-hour races at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit.
It’s the latest segment of a busy 2024 schedule for Evans, with the 27-year-old also regularly racing a Ferrari in GT World Challenge Australia.
“I’m excited to be making my Asian racing debut and rejoining Phantom Global Racing,” he said.
“Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia has proven to be a popular and competitive series, racing on the same format as here in Australia.
“Partnering with JZ in the #13 Porsche 911 GT3R, we hope to arrive with a strong package. BOP (Balance of Performance) is always a talking point, so we don’t actually know until we get on track.
“It’s my first time going to the Chang International Circuit and Thailand so I’m looking forward to a fun weekend.
“All these additional laps and race miles keeps me sharp and diversified as a driver. I’m getting plenty of seat time this year between Supercars and GT World Challenge Australia, so to add more with Porsche is a nice bonus.
“Hopefully a couple of big additions to announce in the coming week.”
There’s set to be an Australian presence on the grid too, courtesy of BJR co-driver Jaylyn Robotham (Climax Racing Mercedes-AMG) and Carrera Cup veteran Rodney Jane (B-Quik Absolute Racing Audi).
