Ex-Coulthard Honda sold, set for return

THE Honda Civic Type R campaigned by Fabian Coulthard last year will return to the TCR Australia grid next month.

V8 Sleuth has learnt the car has been sold by Wall Racing, although the buyer’s identity is being kept under wraps for now.

Wall Racing teased an imminent announcement following the conclusion of a test last Wednesday for the team.

It’s understood the car’s new driver will be a fresh face to TCR, with their debut to take place at Round 2 at Phillip Island on May 12-14.

There was just one Honda in the field at the Symmons Plains season-opener in February, that being 2022 champion Tony D’Alberto, who competes for Wall Racing.

Privateers Zac Soutar and Michael Clemente have shifted away from the Japanese brand, while the second Wall Civic was parked for Round 1.

That car was a race winner last year in the hands of Coulthard, in back-to-back races at Phillip Island.

It was also raced by Tim Slade during the 2022 Bathurst 6 Hour event, when COVID ruled Coulthard out.

Bailey Sweeny (Hyundai) leads the 2023 standings from D’Alberto and Aaron Cameron (Peugeot).
