Feeney’s simple goal after Sydney stumble

A RARE chink in Broc Feeney’s armour appeared at Sydney Motorsport Park, leaving the Triple Eight star eager to rebound this weekend at The Bend.

Having flashed frontrunning pace at almost every round this season, Feeney admitted to being “embarrassed” about his run to 11th under lights at SMP before missing the Sunday podium when he was passed on the last lap by Anton De Pasquale.

Down to fourth in the championship – albeit still within 67 points of leader Brodie Kostecki – Feeney did not mince his words about needing to lift his game in South Australia.

In the weeks between rounds, Feeney headed to Queensland Raceway for his latest start in GT World Challenge Australia; now he’s looking forward to tackling The Bend.

It’s a circuit with fond memories for the 20-year-old, including a breakthrough maiden Toyota 86 race win in 2018.

“The Bend will be interesting in the new (Gen3) cars, we’ve got less downforce and it is a downforce track, which will make for a good challenge,” he said.

“I always enjoy driving there, it’s always great fun.

“I’ve had some good results there in the past, I had my first ever win back in 2018 there, which is pretty cool.

“Three solid races this weekend is the goal.”

Opening practice at The Bend for the Repco Supercars Championship will get underway 9:50am local time (10:20am AEST) on Saturday.
