Holden legend hosts Ford supremo in New Zealand

FORD Motor Company CEO Jim Farley has continued his tour of Australasia by making a special stop at Highlands Motorsport Park.

Farley had earlier in the week hopped behind the wheel of Cam Waters’ Gen3 Mustang Supercar at Calder Park, as well as visiting Ford Australia sites.

Across the ditch, Farley and son Jameson have since popped into Highlands.

His host for the occasion? None other than Holden legend Greg Murphy.

‘Murph’ is the motorsport manager at Highlands and fellow Tony Quinn-owned circuits Taupo and Hampton Downs.

The four-time Bathurst 1000 winner notably made every one of his 443 Supercars Championship starts in Holden machinery.

He does however have an affinity with at least one Ford, the Sierra RS500 Cosworth Group A which was the first touring car he raced (in the 1992 Nissan-Mobil 500 Series in New Zealand).

Murphy reunited with the Pete Sturgeon-owned car in the Archibalds Historic Touring Car support category at the 2022 Pukekohe Supercars swansong, and was pictured alongside it with Farley at Highlands yesterday.
