Kostecki set for shock Supercars return

BRODIE Kostecki is set to make a shock return to the Repco Supercars Championship at the upcoming ITM Taupō Super400.

V8 Sleuth understands that a peace deal between the parties will see the 26-year-old resume driving duties with Erebus Motorsport following two events on the sidelines.

It’s a sensational twist to a saga involving the reigning champion that has dragged on for months.

Kostecki effectively quit the team on the eve of the 2024 season amid an apparent dispute with Erebus’ management.

The Gold Coast-based West Aussie has been on the sidelines while negotiations over the driver’s contract have played out.

Todd Hazelwood drove in Kostecki’s place during the opening two rounds but will now revert to co-driving duties with the squad at Sandown and Bathurst.

UPDATE: Erebus has confirmed the news via a statement quoting both Kostecki and team CEO Barry Ryan.

“I’m excited to be back behind the wheel again. I needed some time away to prioritise my health,” said Kostecki.

“I’m grateful for the support, privacy and time Betty, Barry, and the team have given me.”

Added Ryan: “On behalf of Betty and the team, we are pleased Brodie is ready to drive again.

“Having Brodie back to work alongside Jack (Le Brocq) as he becomes more familiar with our cars will be a positive for our entire team.”

Kostecki will undertake a test day at Winton this week in preparation for Taupō.
