Kostecki’s ruthless response to parity qualms

PARITY has been all the rage for several weeks now as Camaros continue to dominate the Supercars season.

As question marks linger over comparative engine performance, Tickford Racing spearhead Cam Waters has been among the most outspoken figures about the Mustang not being on a level playing field.

Waters heroically flew the Ford flag all weekend at Symmons Plains and might have had one if not two Sunday pole positions if it wasn’t for collisions in both sessions with a Dick Johnson Racing Mustang.

That was a point championship leader Brodie Kostecki homed in on when asked on Sunday night about parity.

“Cam was P1 in all the straight sectors I’m pretty sure and he ran into another Ford in every qualifying session, so I don’t really know how they can complain about the parity when they keep running into each other,” said Kostecki.

Supercars personnel are due to inspect a transient dyno at Melbourne engineering firm DS International in the coming days.

That facility, should it prove suitable, could be the key to providing clarity on the engine parity matter.

Kostecki leads the championship by 87 points from Erebus Motorsport teammate Will Brown.

Chaz Mostert is the leading Ford driver in third, a further 79 points adrift.

Hidden Valley will host Round 5 of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship, the Darwin Triple Crown, on June 16-18.
