THE presence, energy and credibility Ludo Lacroix has brought to PremiAir Racing has already proven a shot in the arm for his new colleagues.
A Supercars championship winner with Triple Eight and DJR Team Penske, Lacroix joined PremiAir in the off-season in as yet unspecified full-time role.
The ever-animated Frenchman didn’t have to wait long to get back trackside, PremiAir subbing in for Triple Eight in an engine parity test at Queensland Raceway where the use of torque sensors was under the microscope.
Drivers James Golding and Tim Slade were in attendance, as was his former team Dick Johnson Racing (on Ford’s behalf).
Slade, who worked together with Lacroix briefly in 2020 when he co-drove with Scott McLaughlin, was full of praise.
“The best part about it is he’s like a little kid, full of energy and bouncing around at a thousand miles an hour,” the #23 driver told V8 Sleuth of Lacroix.
“If Pete (Xiberras, team owner) wants it to work a thousand percent, then Ludo wants it to work the same.
“Put it this way, I feel as though he wants to make it happen so badly. It’s just cool to see.
“It’s not like, ‘I’ll just take a job at another team and cruise along’.
“And I think for anyone who knows Ludo, he’s not that type of person anyway – he does something properly and to the best of his ability or he doesn’t do it at all. I think that’s how successful people operate anyway.
“It’s been pretty cool to see the energy that he has brought into the team.”

PremiAir will join fellow Queensland Supercars squads Triple Eight, DJR and Matt Stone Racing for a pre-season test at Ipswich on February 5.
