Love to lead second Triple Eight Bathurst Mercedes

TRIPLE Eight has drafted in Mercedes star Jordan Love to spearhead its second Bathurst 12 Hour entry.

The Banyo squad this morning announced its all-Pro combination of Broc Feeney, Will Brown and Mikael Grenier, who will steer a National Storage-backed #888 Mercedes-AMG.

Its second Merc will be fielded in the Pro-Am class, shared by Aussie international Love, Jamie Whincup and Prince Jefri Ibrahim.

Both cars will test at The Bend on January 18.

Triple Eight’s 2023 Pro-Am entry was sponsored by Boost and driven by Whincup, Ibrahim and Richie Stanaway – who is this year embarking on a full-time Supercars campaign with Grove Racing.

Whincup, who won the Bathurst 12 Hour outright in 2017, unveiled the KFC-backed #88 via his social media today.

Whincup/Stanaway/Ibrahim placed 10th outright and third in class last year – one place ahead of the Volante Rosso Motorsport Mercedes-AMG which Love shared with David Reynolds and Tony Bates.

Love’s Triple Eight cameo will come a month after he lines up for Grove Racing at this weekend’s Abu Dhabi 6 Hour.

Grove Racing has switched its GT3 allegiance from Porsche to Mercedes, as first revealed by V8 Sleuth, but will miss the Bathurst 12 Hour.
