Morrow to exit Tickford Super2 program

ELLY Morrow will not continue with Tickford Racing’s Dunlop Series program next year.

The 24-year-old left Brad Jones Racing after five Super2 rounds last year to join Tickford for 2023, citing a clear goal of becoming a regular inside the top 10.

That has not eventuated; Morrow holds 14th in the standings with just one top 10 race result this season.

Rookie teammate Brad Vaughan, meanwhile, has recorded two pole positions and two second-place finishes.

Next month’s Adelaide 500 will be Morrow’s last outing with Tickford.

“Elly has made a significant improvement in the five rounds so far this year and there is an extremely high level of competition in that Super2 category right now,” said team principal Tim Edwards.

“The whole team joins me in thanking Elly, she’s got a great sense of humour and has been a delight to have as part of the team.

“The team will now be on the lookout for the next young talent we can bring onboard for our Super2 program for 2024 through our Tickford Autosport program.”

It’s understood the Ford squad may run as many as three Super2/Super3 entries next year.

Two of those seats are likely already accounted for, with Vaughan believed to be under contract and Tickford junior Rylan Gray eyeing a step up from Toyota 86s.

Per Tickford’s communications, Morrow has decided to “immerse herself more in the family business and will continue to have involvement in karting and young driver development behind the scenes”.

Just 30 points separates Super2 title rivals Zak Best and Kai Allen after last weekend’s penultimate round at Mount Panorama.
