NEW MARK SKAIFE BOOK OUT NOW

A NEW book on Supercars Hall of Famer Mark Skaife has been released and is available to buy now from the V8 Sleuth Online Bookshop here.

‘Mark Skaife: The Complete Illustrated Autobiography’ is the latest book in Affirm Press’s Sport Legends series that has featured Adam Gilchrist, Dennis Lillee, Kevin Sheedy and Peter Brock.

The unique and intimate illustrated autobiography recounts the thrills, heartbreaks and epic feats of an unparalleled racing career, on the track and behind the scenes.

A six-time Bathurst 1000 winner and five-time Australian Touring Car Championship/ V8 Supercars Championship victor, Skaife was the sport’s benchmark as a driver at the height of the Holden Racing Team’s golden era across the turn of the millennium, the high water mark of a three-decade career behind the wheel.

Featuring photos from his personal collection (and also from our an1images.com archives) a range of figures important in Skaife’s life have delivered a range of insights to produce a book that is part ‘toast’ and also part ‘roast’!

The likes of Neil Crompton, Glenn Seton, Mark Larkham, John Crennan, Jess Yates, Fred Gibson, Tony Cochrane, Craig Lowndes and Jim Richards have all contributed to the book.

Former HRT engineer Richard Hollway also contributes with some quotable quotes.

“His real personality is a total contrast to his professional and polished corporate and TV image,” he writes in the book.

“Off track and away from the game he is a ratbag who takes the piss out of everyone and has a seriously warped sense of humour.

“His favourite stories always seem to involve someone being hurt or ‘maimed’. I’m not sure if this is a Skaife trait or a New South Wales Central Coast thing – either way it’s fun to be around!”

The 280-page hardcover is out now and can be purchased through the V8 Sleuth Bookshop here.
