OUTGOING Tickford Racing boss Tim Edwards has received a special surprise farewell gift today at the VAILO Adelaide 500.
Edwards was presented with a special dedicated helmet by the team that will be worn by Cam Waters for the weekend aboard the #43 Monster Energy Mustang.
It features a special blue and black design with various messages from a range of long-time Tickford staff, including Waters, Tickford Racing co-owner Rod Nash and Matty Roberts as well as Supercars CEO Shane Howard.
It also includes a range of team statistics and logos of the three banners the team has raced under – Ford Performance Racing, Prodrive Racing Australia and Tickford Racing.
V8 Sleuth’s coverage of the VAILO Adelaide 500 is proudly presented by Bad Boy Mowers – explore the world of Bad Boy Mowers with the new Spring/Summer catalogue of high-performance mowers here.
The helmet will find a permanent home with Edwards after Waters finishes wearing it this weekend; it will be just the second drivers helmet to be in his possession from a long career in motorsport in sportscars, Formula 1 and Supercars.
“I knew nothing about it, the whole team presented it to me before Practice 1 today,” Edwards told V8 Sleuth.
“The only other driver helmet I have got is a Mika Salo helmet from 1989.”
