Quinn Porsche written off after Darwin crash

THE Porsche Carrera Cup Australia field will be missing a splash of fluorescent yellow in Townsville with Ryder Quinn sidelined.

The grandson of motorsport identity Tony Quinn announced via a statement on social media that a crash at last month’s Darwin Triple Crown had forced his car to be written off.

Subsequently, Quinn will be out of action for Round 3 of the season this weekend.

“Due to sustained damage from Round 2, the #101 Local Legends Porsche 992 car is no longer able to compete in any Porsche Carrera Cup Championship worldwide,” he wrote.

“Despite our best efforts, a decision was made and was out of our hands. We thank Porsche Motorsport for their assistance through the process.

“The team and I will regroup, reset and future plan to ensure whatever comes next, we are ready for.”

Coincidentally, Tony Quinn will make an on-track return this weekend as a guest driver in the Aussie Racing Cars category he owns – 12 months on from his heavy Carrera Cup crash at the Reid Park Street Circuit.
