Reynolds disqualified from Top 10 Shootout

DAVID Reynolds has been disqualified from the results of Saturday’s Top 10 Shootout at the VALO Adelaide 500.

The Grove Racing driver set the third fastest time in the session aboard his Penrite-backed Ford Mustang.

However, a short time after the session it became clear that Reynolds’ Mustang was under investigation for a technical breach.

Supercars’ head of motorsport (HoM) Adrian Burgess told the TV broadcast that it “appears the rear wing seems a little bit higher than legally allowed”.

The breach was later confirmed in a Motorsport Australia Stewards report.

“Following the Session the Stewards received a report from the HoM that post Session scrutiny checks on Car 26, David Reynolds, had revealed that the rear wing angle on Car 26 exceeded the threshold prescribed in the VSD for the 2022 Ford Mustang,” read the report.

“After the Team acknowledged the breach, the Stewards Disqualified Car 26 from the Session.”

Cam Waters scored pole in the Shootout from Scott Pye and Reynolds, whose disqualification moves Anton De Pasquale up to third place.

James Courtney, Andre Heimgartner, James Golding, Chaz Mostert and Todd Hazelwood now fill fourth through eighth.

Thomas Randle, whose car narrowly missed out on taking part in the Shootout, will start ninth and Reynolds 10th.
