Super3 champion outlines plans for 2024

THERE’S no games when it comes to Jobe Stewart and his future plans.

“I definitely want to continue working alongside Image Racing and make that step up into Super2,” the 19-year-old outlined.

A member of the Erebus Academy, Stewart outlasted speedy rival Cameron McLeod to win the 2023 Super3 title in his first year out of Toyota 86s.

It was the icing on top of the cake that was a superb season for Erebus, which won its maiden Supercars drivers’ and teams’ championships.

“The championship win this year has put me in a perfect spot for the future,” said Stewart.

“It’s a great thing to have on my resume for the years to come.

“All of the experience that I’ve gained this year will be crucial going into next year where I’m aiming to race Super2.

“Having a whole season in a Supercar under my belt now has also given me the confidence I need in the future.”

Brad Vaughan and in particular Kai Allen have shown how possible it is to be competitive in the transition from Super3 to Super2, both having graduated last off-season.

Stewart cited 2023 as being valuable in more than just on-track experience, too.

“Last year in the 86s it was just me, Dad and one mechanic,” he said.

“This year I’ve got my engineer who’s fully focused on the car, as well as Terry (Wyhoon) on the radio and all of the Image Racing mechanics.

“The whole team environment has been really different for me but it’s been really helpful to have so many people behind me.

“Learning how everything works amongst a team environment has been really important for me.”

So, watch out for a 2024 announcement for Stewart.

“I’m definitely looking at Super2 next year. We’re in the process of finalising some things,” he reiterated.

Erebus/Image is likely to have an opening in Super2 next year, given 2023 driver Jack Perkins has signed with the Blanchard Racing Team.

The 2024 Dunlop Series will kick off at Mount Panorama on February 23-25.
