Tickford enters Super3 with teen prodigy

TICKFORD Racing will expand to seven cars for the VAILO Adelaide 500 to allow for Rylan Gray to make his Dunlop Super3 Series debut.

Gray will turn the minimum age of 17 on November 21, just in time to be Super3 eligible for the Adelaide finale, where practice will start two days later.

The young gun has benefited from a mid-year rule change which allowed him to test a Supercar before his 17th birthday.

Gray has otherwise enjoyed a race-winning Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series campaign and finished second-in-class at the Bathurst 6 Hour in April.

He’ll join a Tickford brigade which already includes main game drivers Cam Waters, James Courtney, Thomas Randle and Declan Fraser, as well as Super2 youngsters Brad Vaughan and Elly Morrow.

“I’m so excited to get stuck in and learn the streets of Adelaide,” said Gray, who will drive a #55 FG X Falcon.

“We have had a program in place throughout the year to help get me as ready as possible for this event and I feel we have learnt a lot and are in a good position heading into the season finale event.

“The car looks incredible; it’s going to be a massive weekend and the Supercar will be all new to me.

“I’m really looking forward to getting after it and seeing how we go.

“Now that the livery’s out and the car’s ready I just can’t wait to get behind the wheel!”

Gray will join Vaughan and Morrow for a test tomorrow at Winton Motor Raceway.
