V8 Sleuth becomes Kumho V8 Touring Cars Official Media Partner

V8 SLEUTH has been confirmed as the Official Media Partner of the revitalised 2023 Kumho V8 Touring Car Series.

The series, which starts at Phillip Island as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on May 12-14, is run for ex-V8 Supercars.

V8 Sleuth has had a long-standing relationship with the series managing its history and statistical archives and will expand that in 2023 with an increase in news and event coverage of the category on its website.

Commodores and Falcons that raced in the V8 Supercars Championship and its second-tier Development Series are eligible for the category, which caters for cars up to the end of the Project Blueprint era in 2012.

The series began in 2008 and quickly grew into an unofficial third tier of V8 competition as car counts continued to increase.

The series started racing under Supercars’ Super3 banner in 2019 and for the last three years has run in combined grids with Super2 at Supercars Championship rounds, though the category has still been run by V8 Touring Cars management via the Australian Racing Group.

However, this year the series returns to its roots competing under the V8 Touring Cars banner with a five-round national calendar as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries and once more with Kumho as control tyre supplier.

“V8 Sleuth has enjoyed a long and successful history with V8 Touring Cars and we’re thrilled to grow that relationship this year,” says V8 Sleuth MD Aaron Noonan.

“The teams and drivers are passionate about their racing and about the histories of their cars. That’s one of the really appealing elements of this series and the cornerstone foundation upon which V8 Sleuth was built.

“We’re looking forward to seeing more drivers and cars confirmed for the first round in upcoming weeks to join the likes of Jude Bargwanna, Jamie Tilley and former series winner Tony Evangelou on the grid.”

The Kumho Series has recently undergone a calendar re-shuffle with Queensland Raceway added to the calendar in the wake of Sydney Motorsport Park’s round moving to November as part of the TCR World Tour.
