VIDEO: Ford CEO takes Jimmy Fallon for ride in Mustang Supercar

YOU’VE seen the photos; now you can watch Jimmy Fallon’s reaction to his high-speed ride in a Ford Mustang Supercar.

The American comedian and late night television host hopped in the passenger’s seat of the Australian-built machine back in August, with Fallon’s chauffeur none other than Ford’s global CEO Jim Farley.

The Supercar ride came after a day at Ford’s Rouge Electric Vehicle Centre in Dearborn, Michigan, with Farley taking the comedian for a spin at the M1 Concourse private motorsport club facility.

While Fallon was clearly enjoying his first time in a Supercar, Farley is no stranger to this particular Mustang’s cockpit.

The chassis in question is DJR FG19, a Car of the Future chassis built and raced by Dick Johnson Racing prior to its union with Team Penske that was shipped to the United States in 2015 by DJRTP with Supercars’ approval as part of a pilot plan to build chassis off-shore.

The move was soon scuppered by a rule change for 2016 that prevented cars from being built outside of Australia, and the chassis was placed into storage at Team Penske’s Mooresville, NC headquarters.

It emerged at the start of 2019 having been converted to the new Ford Mustang GT body style – albeit with several modifications to prevent it being used for any meaningful Supercars testing – to serve as a US-based show car.

Farley drove the car at the M1 Concourse facility in May last year prior to steering it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as part of a tribute to Roger Penske.

The Gen2-spec Mustang retires from Repco Supercars Championship duties this weekend after the VALO Adelaide 500, with the new S650-model, Gen3-spec Mustang set to debut in the opening round of the 2023 championship at Newcastle next March.
