Wanneroo shakedown for Mostert, Evans Ferraris

THE Arise Racing Ferrari 296 GT3s to be steered by Chaz Mostert and Jaxon Evans this year will be put through their paces at Wanneroo Raceway.

Presented in plain black for now, the cars have arrived in Western Australia where Arise is based.

They will undergo a shakedown at Wanneroo in the coming weeks before heading to Phillip Island for further testing ahead of the GT World Challenge Australia round at the Island on April 12-14.

It’s not clear whether Mostert and Evans will drive at the Wanneroo shakedown, but it is known they’ll each compete in Pro-Am, pairing up with Liam Talbot and Elliott Schutte respectively.

“We’re working with the goal to have them on track in the next two weeks,” said team manager Jordan Oon.

“Being a brand-new car, there’s a host of systems and procedures we all have to get our heads around which will be the focus of the shakedown.

“It’ll also be about educating the drivers as well as the team, as these cars are incredibly advanced compared to other GT3 cars we’ve experienced.

“There’s a lot of preparation going on to make sure we have everything ready, but the team is motivated and doing an absolutely fantastic job.”

Mostert made a flying start to his 2024 Supercars campaign last weekend at Bathurst, nabbing a pair of podiums.

Evans meanwhile had a tougher run in his solo Supercars debut, including suffering a burnt foot, but finished fourth in the preceding weekend’s Repco Bathurst 12 Hour.
