WAU beer launched in time for Bathurst 1000

WALKINSHAW Andretti United has teamed up with Bathurst-based Reckless Brewing to launch a limited-edition beer ahead of the 2023 Great Race.

The WAU Lager is described as “an American-style lager with light malt flavours and a subtle citrus hop finish” as well as being “super crisp and easy to drink”.

Just 200 cases have been brewed, with orders available online.

“I was actually introduced to (WAU team principal) Bruce Stewart through Nick Percat’s engineer, Adam Austin,” said Reckless Brewing founder Jarrod Moore.

“We grew up together and Adam is the reason I became a car racing tragic, and to now be working together after we took such different career paths is awesome.”

Stewart welcomed the alliance.

“I love the work Jarrod, Alice and Grace at Reckless Brewing are doing, and it’s so cool to see these guys kicking goals and going from strength to strength in the industry,” he said.

“It’s a fantastic beer, the design looks awesome, and we are really proud to be working with a local company for the biggest race of the year, a business who has supported us already in 2023.

“We’re pumped to see fans enjoy it on The Mountain or at home watching!”

Moore added: “I expect this to be a long partnership and every year we will come up with something new and exciting for our punters as a way to introduce our style to this amazing community.”

Percat/Fabian Coulthard and Chaz Mostert/Lee Holdsworth will be WAU’s two pairings for the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 5-8.
