ATCC/Supercars’ longest manufacturer winning streaks

PARITY or not, Chevrolet has returned to Supercars in style this season.

Camaros have been first across the line in every race of the 2023 season, although Triple Eight’s controversial Race 1 disqualification in Newcastle meant Ford’s Cam Waters was classified as the first ever Gen3 race winner.

Even still, that puts Chevrolet on an 11-race winning streak which has sparked all sorts of parity debates.

To put the situation into context though, that run of victories does not actually rank in the top 10 for a single manufacturer in ATCC/Supercars Championship history.

In fact, Chevrolet’s streak is not even half the length of the tear which Holden went on in the late ‘90s.

In a period spanning just over a year, the Lion won 25 successive championship races across four different drivers: Craig Lowndes, Mark Skaife, Russell Ingall and Jason Bargwanna.

It began with Ingall winning the middle race of the 1998 Mallala round, and was only halted when a 26-year-old Jason Bright broke through for his first championship race win, aboard a Stone Brothers Racing AU Falcon at Hidden Valley in June ‘99.

A notable detail, however, is that it’s been almost 30 years since Ford’s last streak exceeding 10 straight race wins.

With next month’s Darwin Triple Crown comprising three races, Chevrolet could move into equal fifth on the all-time list if it takes another cleansweep.
