Bathurst 12 Hour grid, 2024: Where every car will start the race

THIS is how the grid will provisionally look when the 2024 Repco Bathurst 12 Hour starts on Sunday morning.

Sheldon van der Linde took out the Allan Simonsen Pole Award for the first time with a 2m01.9810s lap in the Top 10 Shootout to give he and teammates Dries Vanthoor and Charles Weerts pole position in their #32 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3.

Alongside them on the front row will be the #888 Triple Eight Mercedes-AMG of Broc Feeney, Will Brown and Mikaël Grenier, the Supercars squad’s lead car being pipped to pole for the second year in a row.

REPORT & RESULTS: BMW, van der Linde storm to Bathurst 12 Hour pole

Not all of the 30-car entry will make it to the start of Sunday’s race following an incident during practice involving an Invitational class runner.

The #50 KTM X-BOW GT2 of Trent Harrison, Laura Kraihamer and David Crampton was withdrawn from the event following Harrison’s crash at the end of Practice 6 on Saturday morning.

The #20 IRC GT was also crashed heavily during the same session and missed qualifying, but work continues on repairing it for the race where it would start from the rear of the grid.

A penalty for one of its Invitational-class rivals changes the complexion of the final rows of the grid.

The #701 Vortex qualified 26th but was handed a three-place grid penalty after Lionel Amrouche was found to have been doing 51km/h in the 40km/h pit lane during the session, dropping it to the 28th on the grid sheet published by the stewards on Saturday evening.

The Repco Bathurst 12 Hour is scheduled to start at 5:45am AEDT on Sunday.
