Bathurst 12 Hour marque switch for Webb, Russell

VETERAN Supercars co-drivers Jonathon Webb and David Russell will team up once again at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour, but this time in a different car.

Webb and Russell joined James and Theo Koundouris in a Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS Evo II at this year’s 12 Hour, placing 16th outright.

The quartet will reunite for the 2024 edition on February 16-18, driving a Tigani Motorsport-run Supabarn Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

The Koundouris brothers debuted their Mercedes last month in Adelaide as part of the GT World Challenge Australia season finale and will now take the car to the Mountain.

Webb has a history of success at Bathurst, winning both the 12 Hour and the 1000 in 2016.

Russell meanwhile finished runner-up in the Great Race this year with Brodie Kostecki, and qualified on the front row at the 2015 12 Hour.

“For me it’s exciting with such an experienced driver line-up,” said Tigani Motorsport managing director Nathan Tagani.

“We showed last year with the Valmont Mercedes that we can produce a fast race car so it’s motivating to be able to put that form and work in to this car and piggy back off the knowledge gained from last year.

“It already puts us in much better shape.

“We had a great test at Sydney Motorsport Park in early December, and have a few more days planned in January, so we can head to Mount Panorama all guns blazing for a result.”

The Supabarn Mercedes is the second entry announced today for the 2024 Bathurst 12 Hour, following confirmation that Keith Kassulke, Cameron McLeod and Hadrian Morrall will share a MARC II V8.
