Cox sweeps Sydney in TA2 solo debut

JORDAN Cox has offered the latest reminder of his talent, mustering a cleansweep of his solo debut in the TA2 Muscle Car Series.

The TCR race winner was up against a tough 26-car field featuring National Trans Am regulars such as Ben Grice, Tom Hayman, Elliott Cleary and Cody Gillis – but they proved no match for Cox under the Sydney Motorsport Park lights.

Filling in for Mark Crutcher in the #4 Mustang, Cox won all three races… and is eager for more.

“Hopefully he says he’s out and I’m in for the rest of the year!” said Cox.

“Seriously though I can’t thank him enough for giving me these opportunities.

“It’s people like him in motorsport that really give people like myself a chance to showcase our skills and I can’t thank him enough, I really appreciate it.

“The IES Motorsport crew did a great job running the car all weekend. It was fast.

“It was a super interesting race, that last one. I was quick in places, Tom was quick in places. He’s a really good steerer, I was right on the limit and I thoroughly enjoyed that last race.

“The best thing about these cars is you have to wheel them. My shoulders are sore, with the gearbox, the H-pattern dog box, you have to wheel it.

“But it’s not just one thing that makes a category. It’s great people, great cars, well run and it was a good all-round category to be a part of.”

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for IES Motorsport, with Graham Cheney’s Camaro catching fire. Cheney was able to exit the scene swiftly and was cleared by the medical centre.

In the overall standings, Dylan Thomas now leads by 24 points from Josh Haynes.

Meanwhile in South Australia, Grove Racing junior Oscar Targett had a stellar Saturday, twice winning from pole position in Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at The Bend.
