SUPERCARS is using three drivers for its crucial parity testing efforts taking place this week at Temora.
A Supercars spokesperson has confirmed that today’s runs are being conducted by Brad Jones Racing driver Macauley Jones and Super2 rookie Cooper Murray.
Jones will step out at the close of play today and be replaced by Porsche Carrera Cup Australia driver Bayley Hall, with Murray staying on.
Hall, 19, was involved in the initial VCAT completed in November.
Murray meanwhile was the 2021 Carrera Cup Australia runner-up to Matt Stone Racing recruit Cameron Hill, and holds the mantle of being the youngest race and round winner in the one-make series’ history.
The aero test comes less than a fortnight out from Round 1 at Newcastle and creates a juggling act for homologation teams Dick Johnson Racing and Triple Eight Race Engineering as they complete their own pre-season programs this week.
Triple Eight team manager Mark Dutton described the coming week as “hectic”. The Brisbane squad is running its #88 Camaro at Queensland Raceway today and #97 tomorrow.
“We’ve got to debrief from (Sydney), we have got to prep the cars for next week,” Dutton told V8 Sleuth last Wednesday.
“Tuesday night we have got to fly down JJ (technical director Jeromy Moore) and a couple of others to do the VCAT testing when really we want them at home base debriefing and moving the car forward.
“It’s not real cool to have to do that, it’s a disadvantage for us, but that’s the job. We don’t have a say in that, so that will be pretty hectic.
“There’s all those things that people never see; everyone always thinks that costs nothing or doesn’t affect you but it most certainly does.”
