A MULTI-NATIONAL car specifically developed for the historic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will debut next month in the hands of Tanner Foust.
American automobile company Radford, co-founded by Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button, has pieced together a Type 62-2 Pikes Peak Edition.
Weighing just 861kg dry and producing 710hp, the vehicle was designed in France with its powertrain built in Austria, its carbon monocoque completed in the United Kingdom and final assembly occurring at Radford’s California headquarters in the United States.
It will roll out at the 101st running of the Pikes Peak event – also known as The Race to the Clouds – taking place in Colorado on June 25.
Driving the car will be Foust, a movie stunt driver who races for McLaren in Extreme E.
“I am honoured to have the chance to pilot this machine up the Pikes Peak course,” said the 49-year-old, who was a class winner at Pikes in 2021.
“It has been great working with the whole team at Radford and I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the Radford Type 62-2 Pikes Peak Edition.”
Radford co-founder Ant Anstead added: “We are incredibly excited to take part in this iconic event.
“Pikes Peak is the quintessential American hill climb so it made perfect sense for Radford to create a bespoke one-off model for the occasion.
“We have been in development with this car since January alongside the team at Scarbo Performance and we are all looking forward to seeing the car in action.
“And to have JPS colours appear again in international motorsport is like a boyhood dream come true.”
Testing of the Type 62-2 Pikes Peak Edition will begin at Radford’s official test track in Phoenix, Arizona.
