NASCAR star tests Holden Supercar

NASCAR star Kyle Busch has celebrated his Cup Series race win last weekend by taking an ex-V8 Supercar for a spin.

Busch won for Richard Childress Racing at World Wide Technology Raceway in front of guests including Erebus Motorsport drivers Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown.

Erebus has established a relationship with RCR, with Barry Ryan indicating both parties would take the chance to learn off one another.

RCR headed to Virginia International Raceway this week with the Holden VF Commodore Supercar it has acquired through Terry Wyhoon’s Image Racing.

V8 Sleuth understands Erebus personnel were in attendance but it’s not clear whether Kostecki or Brown joined Busch in turning laps at the road course.

Tight restrictions on NASCAR testing make an ex-Supercar such as this Commodore an ideal road course training car.

Team Penske drivers Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney last year steered an ex-Mustang Supercar at Watkins Glen.

Two of the next three Cup Series races are on non-ovals: Sonoma Raceway this weekend and the Chicago Street Course on July 2.

The VF Commodore which Busch drove began life at the Holden Racing Team before being run by Erebus and then its Super2 affiliate Image Racing.

Kostecki and Brown are running one-two in the Repco Supercars Championship after four rounds.
