New chassis for Waters at Albert Park

CAM Waters is in line to move into a brand-new Gen3 Ford Mustang chassis amid efforts to get his 2024 Repco Supercars Championship challenge back on track.

Waters battled illness and bad luck at the season-opening Bathurst 500, leaving him 20th in the standings – already 192 points behind leader Will Brown.

The Tickford Racing star has now confirmed to Supercars.com that he’ll shake down a new car tomorrow at Winton Motor Raceway.

“Shakedown tomorrow at Winton in the new car, so that’ll be good,” Waters said.

“The plan was always to either start making a new car, or build me one for the Grand Prix or New Zealand.

“It was more just when it’s fully ready and, after that, it’ll be good to go.”

V8 Sleuth understands that chassis, TR-30, will then make its competitive debut later this month at Albert Park.

Supercars’ Round 2 will comprise of four sprint races across March 21-24, in support of the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Waters’ teammate Thomas Randle is seventh in the drivers’ championship, having taken 14th and fourth at Mount Panorama.
