PremiAir signs champion engineer Lacroix

PREMIAIR Racing has announced the recruitment of Ludo Lacroix in a major boost to the fledging squad’s 2024 hopes.

The Frenchman will join PremiAir in a full-time capacity, his seven-year tenure with Dick Johnson Racing having come to an end last month.

Prior to that, Lacroix was a core part of Triple Eight Race Engineering’s success and it was at the Banyo organisation that he struck up a bond with Stephen Robertson – now PremiAir’s team manager.

Lacroix and Robertson first worked together in 2002 at DTM team ABT Sportsline before the pair relocated to Australia at the end of ’03 to join Triple Eight in Supercars.

A string of championships have followed him since, and now his task is to take PremiAir to the next level.

Lacroix’s exact role has not been defined as yet – that is, whether he operates as a race engineer or in an overarching manner.

“We are exceptionally pleased to have someone of Ludo’s calibre joining the PremiAir Racing team,” said team owner Peter Xiberras.

“It is no secret that we are dedicated to having the best people on our team, and clearly Ludo is a heavyweight in his field.

“With Ludo and Stephen having worked together previously at Triple Eight, there is also an aspect of getting the band back together which I think will serve us well in 2024.”

PremiAir and its drivers Tim Slade and James Golding will hit the track on February 5 for a test at Queensland Raceway ahead of the season-opening Bathurst 500 later that month.
