VIDEO: Raymond’s retro-style preview to Bathurst 1000

REPCO has kicked off race week for the 60th anniversary Bathurst 1000 with a retro-style preview, paying tribute to the late Mike Raymond.

The Seven commentator and network executive was a major part of the Bathurst broadcasts from 1977 to 1995, as well as the channel’s other Australian touring car commitments.

Raymond, who passed away in 2019, brought a unique style to the broadcasts, which included creative intro pieces for the coverage, filled with nicknames, puns and alliteration.

This year Repco enlisted Mike’s son Andy Raymond, who also featured on the Bathurst coverage in the 1990s, to create a similarly styled intro for the 2023 race.

Track action at the Repco Bathurst 1000 kicks off with practice on Thursday.
