A NUMBER of upgrades including push-to-pass will be trialled by S5000’s technical team today.
The feature, which is used in series including IndyCar, is designed to aid overtaking, with drivers allocated a defined amount to use per race.
Should a test today at The Bend Motorsport Park prove successful, push-to-pass will make its competitive S5000 debut next month at the Tasman Series opener on the Gold Coast.
Three development cars are running at The Bend as category management strives to take the open-wheel series forward.

Per a statement, the development cars will also test “an upgraded damper package, improved rear vision mirrors, a new rear wheel rim specification, minor adjustments to the exhaust, accelerator pedal and developments to both the front and rear suspension.”
Tyre supplier Hoosier will put various new tyre compounds and constructions through their paces.
Any tyre changes will not take effect until next season however, with a two-day Phillip Island test still to come.
Beyond the development cars, there will be many more S5000s whirring around The Bend today as an open test takes place.
