SOLD! Tickford Gen3 Mustang heading to BRT

TICKFORD Racing has completed the sale of a Gen3 Mustang Supercar in line with the team’s restructuring next off-season.

Chassis TR-27, which is being raced by Declan Fraser and Tyler Everingham as the #56 Tradie Mustang at Sandown, has been acquired for 2024 by the Blanchard Racing Team.

That will reduce Tickford’s fleet of completed Gen3 Supercars to three, and increase BRT’s to three.

Tickford currently runs four Fords and BRT one (full-time), but both will move to two-car models next year.

“Car 56 is going to Blanchards and I assume that will be their spare car,” Tickford CEO Tim Edwards told V8 Sleuth.

“They will take delivery of it after this season.

“One of the other three cars will obviously be our spare and we have also got another partly built spare back at the factory as well, so we’ll effectively end up with one-and-a-half spare cars.”

That will give Tickford scope to run wildcards in future, although that arguably goes against a more focused championship bid being cited as the “sole motivation” behind their downsizing.

“The ability is there, of course, to do wildcards,” said Edwards.

“We have got nothing planned along those lines at the moment but naturally having a couple of spare cars does give you that opportunity.”

As for 2024, Tickford is yet to formally confirm its driver line-up – but Cam Waters and Thomas Randle are the hot tips.

“We’re just working on that in the background,” Edwards said, when asked if an announcement was imminent.

“There’s plenty going on, both commercially, with drivers, engineers and mechanics and everything, so we’re just working through all of that at the moment. When we’re ready we’ll choose the appropriate time to let everybody know.”
