Super3 sensation to drive ex-SVG Falcon at Bathurst

CAMERON McLeod will jump aboard an ex-Shane van Gisbergen Ford Supercar next month at Bathurst.

McLeod has proven a hit talent this year in Super3, displaying blistering pace although some unfortunate DNFs have allowed Erebus Academy talent Jobe Stewart to check out in the title race.

McLeod however clearly has a bright future and will now seek to get some extra Bathurst experience in a Supercar, contesting the final round of the Kumho V8 Touring Car Series as part of the Bathurst International on November 10-12.

For the occasion, the 18-year-old will drive SBR FG02, the Stone Brothers Racing FG Falcon campaigned by future three-time champion van Gisbergen in the first part of the 2009 season.

“Brad Neill, my car owner from Super3 asked me if I wanted to race at Bathurst again in his FG Falcon, I couldn’t say no, more laps at Bathurst is always a positive,” said McLeod.

“It is an FG Falcon that Shane van Gisbergen drove, it was his car and Brad also drove it in the Kumho Series when he raced as well.

“You always want to win at Bathurst, I will always go there with that mentality and see how it goes and what we can come away with.”

McLeod has been spreading his wings this year with a smattering of MARC Cars outings as well as completing ride day laps for the Blanchard Racing Team.

Jude Bargwanna leads the V8 Touring Car Series standings by 50 points from Jim Pollicina.
