Tickford unveils Courtney Mustang

JAMES Courtney will stick with teal in 2023, with Snowy River Caravans confirmed as the major sponsor on his Tickford Racing Gen3 Mustang.

The 2010 champion is back for a fourth season with Tickford after a fine ‘22 campaign headlined by podiums at Perth, Tailem Bend and Adelaide.

“I have seen a few car and regulations changes in my time in the sport, but none quite like this,” Courtney said.

“It’s a huge change to what we have previously known and I’m excited to see the racing move closer together and the cars to resemble more of what the roadgoing Mustang is.

“I’m also excited to continue our partnership with the awesome team at Snowy River Caravans, it was great to have them onboard last year and I’m ready to bring the teal in 2023.”

Courtney will also have continuity in the form of race engineer Sam Scaffidi, the duo to shake down the #5 today at Winton Motor Raceway.

“This year will be a huge learning curve for everyone I think, no team is going to have the upper hand, it will be interesting the see how we compare after some testing and first couple of practices at Newcastle”, said the 42-year-old.

“It’s always exciting ahead of a new season, 2022 was a choppy year for my team, but we know we have what it takes to overcome anything we face.

“I’m as motivated as ever to get out there and make the teal team of Snowy River Caravans and Tickford Racing proud, and I can’t wait to get the season underway.”

Courtney will be joined at Winton today by Tickford teammate Declan Fraser, whose #56 Mustang will still be in plain black when it runs for the first time.

Tradie has been announced to return on the #56 however, while Thomas Randle is again donning Castrol branding.

That just leaves the naming rights partner on the #6 of Cam Waters to be finalised, as suspense builds around whether Monster Energy will be back for an eighth successive season with the Mildura star.

Waters and Randle have each completed a shakedown and test now.

There will be 11 Gen3 Supercars circulating Winton today, also including four from Brad Jones Racing, two from Erebus Motorsport, two from Walkinshaw Andretti United and one from Grove Racing.
