WAU completes move out of historic HQ

WALKINSHAW Andretti United has finished moving out of its long-time headquarters.

The famous Supercars squad had been based in the Clayton Business Park since the mid-90s, when it was known as the factory Holden Racing Team.

The premises on Centre Road is full of Australian automotive and motorsport history, having also played home to HSV, Kmart Racing and Holden Young Lions, as well as Nissan and Volkswagen plants.

The business park is believed to be being flattened for the purpose of redevelopment.

WAU and Walkinshaw Racing’s move to a new facility just around the corner – on Nursery Avenue, also in Clayton South – has been more than a year in the making.

Various departments have been moved across bit by bit, with the Walkinshaw engine shop being the last to do so.

WAU is set to show off its new base at a grand opening next month in the lead-up to the 2023 Sandown 500.

Coming off a strong showing on the weekend at The Bend, WAU will field pairings of Chaz Mostert/Lee Holdsworth and Nick Percat/Fabian Coulthard in the enduros – including its first Bathurst 1000 campaign as a Ford team.
