Wendy’s Camaro breaks cover ahead of Taupō

INTERNATIONAL burger chain Wendy’s will take naming rights on Brad Jones Racing’s #96 Camaro at this weekend’s ITM Taupō Super400.

It’s the latest striking livery to be donned by Macauley Jones, who sported the branding of SpongeBob SquarePants at Albert Park last month.

With a presence already in New Zealand and 200 stores promised for Australia by 2034 via the Flynn Group – which owns Pizza Hut Australia, Jones’ regular backer – Wendy’s appeared on the bonnet of Andre Heimgartner’s Chevrolet at Albert Park. It also is supporting Shane van Gisbergen’s NASCAR activities this year.

“Not only are we heading over to New Zealand again, to a new circuit and in front of a full crowd of Kiwi fans – we’re going to debut a sweet-looking car,” said Jones.

“The full Wendy’s look is just awesome, I’m so stoked with how it’s turned out.

“Taupō is set to be one of the best events of the year and the way the Kiwi fans have reacted just shows how much the category was missed last year. I can’t wait to get on track in the Wendy’s machine and get a proper taste of the circuit in a Supercar.

“We’ve seen just how cool Wendy’s looks on a NASCAR Camaro with Trackhouse and now it’s our turn.

“It is pretty surreal to take this livery to NZ while SVG is racing on the opposite side of the world in a Wendy’s branded car at Talladega.”

Jones put his SpongeBob SquarePants Camaro in the spotlight by topping opening practice at the Melbourne SuperSprint, but a tough round ensued as the entire BJR fleet was hampered by braking issues. Jones sits 20th in the championship.

Supercars practice at Taupō begins 10:55am AEST (12:55pm NZST) on Friday.
