HE won’t be racing in the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix but Liam Lawson will appear on-track at Albert Park, sampling a Gen3 Ford Mustang Supercar.
Lawson, 22, is a Kiwi sensation who scored F1 points last year while filling in for an injured Daniel Ricciardo.
That was not enough to earn him a full-time seat just yet, but it’s considered merely a matter of time for the Red Bull talent.
Lawson today will hop behind the wheel of the spare Blanchard Racing Team Supercar which remains in a Ford Performance livery, as was the case at last weekend’s Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival where James Courtney took Guenther Steiner for hot laps.
Five days on, Courtney is set to be in the passenger seat of the Tickford Racing-built car which BRT acquired in the off-season.
Lawson was also in Adelaide, where he drove the Ford SuperVan 4.2 and a Porsche 962 sportscar. That followed him taking a Red Bull RB7 F1 car for demonstration laps around Mount Panorama at the 2023 Bathurst 12 Hour.
Continuing its Australian tour, the SuperVan will be steered by Ricciardo today.
