FANS at the OTR SuperSprint at The Bend will enjoy improved access to the circuit’s infield thanks to the installation of a second pedestrian bridge on the front straight.
A pedestrian overpass was erected just prior to the circuit’s finish line last Friday, with finishing touches taking place today ahead of this weekend’s Supercars round.
It’s one of two ex-Adelaide 500 overpasses secured by the Tailem Bend circuit, the first of which was installed on the run to Turn 1 ahead of the 2021 Supercars round.
There are now technically three bridges across The Bend’s front straight, although the banner at the start finish line is for signage purposes only.
This weekend’s OTR SuperSprint marks the sixth Supercars round to be held at The Bend following the circuit’s opening in 2018.
It’s one of two South Australian events on this year’s calendar thanks to the return of the Adelaide 500 as the season finale in December.
The South Australian Government is currently rushing to replace infrastructure including overpasses ahead of the dramatic rebirth of the street race.
