THE sons of Bathurst 1000 legends Steven Richards and Greg Murphy will team up for an endurance campaign of their own this weekend.
Richards (five wins) and Murphy (four) are among the most successful drivers in Great Race history.
Their success stories overlapped when they teamed up to win the 1999 edition for Gibson Motorsport in a Holden VT Commodore.
The combination returned to Mount Panorama the following year and again made the podium, this time placing third.

More than two decades on, Clay Richards and Cormac Murphy are co-driving together at Round 1 of New Zealand’s North Island Endurance Series.
Their entry at Pukekohe Park Raceway will come aboard a Penny Homes-backed Toyota 86.
“A big thanks to John Penny, Peter Sturgeon and (Greg Murphy) for making this possible,” Richards Jr wrote on social media.
“This will be a pretty special weekend as this is one of the last ever race events at Pukekohe Park Raceway before it closes.
“I can’t wait to finally jump back in the race suit.”
The Pukekohe enduro will take place a week before Steven Richards and Greg Murphy are due to race against each other at the Phillip Island Classic.
Both are down to drive Nissan Skyline HR31s in the Heritage Touring Car races; the former doing so in the car his father Jim used on the way to victory in the 1990 ATCC.
Cormac Murphy’s older brother Ronan is competing in the 2023 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.
Rounds 2 and 3 of the NIES will take place at Hampton Downs (April 21-24) and Taupo Motorsport Park (May 12-14).
