No more #6 Tickford Ford Supercars for collectors

SUPERCARS fans keen to add more Cam Waters #6 Mustangs to their model cabinets and collections are in for some bad news.

Tickford Racing’s model car company partner Authentic Collectables today confirmed it will no longer be permitted to make any models of the team’s #6 car and that it has cancelled production of the 2022 #6 Mustang.

There will not be a model made of this year’s Gen3-era #6 car either, however the Perth-based collectables company will continue to produce scale models of the team’s #5, #55 and #56 Mustangs.

Authentic released a statement today confirming the news.

“As you may be aware, a number of months ago all of our #6 Tickford Racing models disappeared from our website,” the statement released today read.

“This was done at the request of Tickford Racing while the team worked through some licensing matters. We apologise for the inconvenience and confusion this may have caused and we thank you for your patience while this was being worked out.

“The long and the short of it is, we have been informed by Tickford Racing that they do not want model cars of #6 produced in any scale moving forward. Obviously this is really disappointing news for us and for collectors. We have loved producing high quality #6 Falcon and Mustang models so to no longer be able to produce these models is simply really heartbreaking.

“Unfortunately due to this decision, we will be unable to produce models of Cam Waters’ 2022 Mustang in any scale, or any models of his Supercars moving forward. The 2022 model in all scales has therefore been cancelled.

“Customers who had outstanding orders for any other previously announced #6 Cam Waters models affected by this situation have been individually notified of this news with steps to resolve their orders. Otherwise, consider all models of car #6 now cancelled from Authentic Collectables and no longer available. Once again, apologies to everyone for any inconvenience caused.

“It should be noted that this decision only affects our production of models for car #6 for Tickford Racing. We will continue to work with Tickford on the rest of their Supercars stable.

“With this matter now closed, we will be able to start providing some further updates on our Gen3 Supercar model plans, stay tuned for some more announcements regarding that range in the coming months.

“As always, thank you for your understanding regarding this matter and continued support of Authentic Collectables.”

Waters sits at the centre of speculation over his Supercars driving future, the two-time championship runner-up linked to a potential shock move to Walkinshaw Andretti United.

He hit the headlines in the last Repco Supercars Championship round in Darwin when his Monster Energy Mustang caught fire while leading Race 13 on the Saturday afternoon.

A repair job that finished at 3.30am Sunday morning got him back onto the track for the pair of races on the Sunday.
