Swedish squad’s ominous Sydney start

THE international TCR contingent has wasted no time in showing they mean business at Sydney Motorsport Park, dominating opening practice.

The first seven spots in Practice 1 were filled by internationals, including a top four lockout by Cyan Racing’s Lynk & Co quartet.

Thed Bjork set the pace on a 1:35.2179s and was directly followed on the timesheets by teammates Yann Ehrlacher, Santiago Urrutia and Ma Qing Hua.

Urrutia, Ehrlacher and Hua had also placed second through fourth in the 15-minute warm-up that kicked off Race Sydney this morning, with Josh Buchan leading.

Interestingly, the top four times from warm-up were all quicker than Bjork’s Practice 1 benchmark.

Mikel Azcona (Hyundai) and Audi duo Frederic Vervisch and Rob Huff were fifth through seventh in Practice 1, while British expat Tom Oliphant was best of the TCR Australia regulars in eighth.
