Tickford engineering shake-up ahead of GC500

TICKFORD Racing has shuffled its engineering line-up ahead of the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500, as the team looks ahead to 2024.

Engineer Chris Stuckey has been moved from Declan Fraser’s #56 entry onto Thomas Randle’s #55, replacing Raymond Lau.

Lau, who has worked with Randle since 2021, is now workshop-based ahead of a switch to the Blanchard Racing Team in 2024.

The pre-Gold Coast shake-up is thought to have taken place in order for Randle to get a head start working with Stuckey ahead of a likely pairing next season.

Tickford will trim back from four cars to two in 2024, with rising star Randle and spearhead Cam Waters behind the wheel.

James Courtney this morning confirmed his move to BRT, while Fraser’s future is unclear.

Stuckey’s role on Fraser’s car is now being filled by Tickford’s engineering manager Brad Wischusen.

Tickford team manager Matt Roberts confirmed the changes for the Gold Coast 500, although wouldn’t be drawn on next year’s plans.

“It’s an internal restructuring until the end of the year,” he said.

Courtney will continue to work with Sam Scaffidi for the final two events of the season before they both depart the team.

Scaffidi is moving to Walkinshaw Andretti United in 2024, replacing Adam De Borre on Chaz Mostert’s #25 car.

Tickford meanwhile remains on the hunt for a new CEO, with its off-season changes to include the departure of long-time leader Tim Edwards.

“The last couple of weeks between Bathurst and here, there’s been a couple of meetings, more so to hand over roles,” added Roberts.

“Between Brad, myself and the rest of the management team, we’re going to splice up Tim’s roles and we’ll each take a piece.

“Hopefully in the next couple of months we’ll have a new CEO appointed, because Rod (Nash, team co-owner and managing director) is actively looking.”

Tickford’s four Mustangs have been fitted with Ford’s upgraded aerodynamic kit ahead of opening practice for the Gold Coast 500 on Friday.
