V8 SuperUtes squad signs Tasman Series winner

TASMAN Series winner Aaron Cameron will broaden his horizons after inking a deal with V8 SuperUte squad JKD Racing.

But it won’t see the TCR and S5000 regular add to his driving portfolio, with Cameron instead agreeing to terms to join JKD as its chief engineer.

JKD is fielding a pair of Toyota Hilux entries at the Wanneroo Raceway season-opener, starting today, for team owner Dean Brooking and stablemate Glen Melling.

Brooking hailed the addition of Cameron, who is one of the hottest driving talents in Australian motorsport from outside the Supercars bubble – although he has partaken in evaluation days with Walkinshaw Andretti United.

“We are extremely grateful that Aaron accepted our offer to join the team to take control of our engineering and development as we establish the groundwork for our team’s future,” said Brooking.

“It’s understandable that Aaron’s commitments to GRM take priority, and we want Aaron to be focused on his own racing.

“Already at a recent test day, Aaron has provided a clearer direction on car development.”

JKD debuted in V8 SuperUtes last year as a single-car team.
