EREBUS TO WHEEL OUT ‘MERCADORE’ FOR YOUNG GUN SUPERCARS TEST

EREBUS Motorsport has confirmed the four young drivers who will take part in next week’s ‘Who’s Next’ program test at Winton.

The four young guns – Callum Hedge, Tom Hayman, Jordyn Sinni and Kyle Gurton – will drive the team’s ‘Mercadore’ Supercar ride car.

The car began its life as a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG V8 Supercar but was later converted by the team into something of a hybrid with ZB Commodore bodywork, through retaining an AMG Mercedes-Benz V8 powerplant under the bonnet.

The day will be the third day of its kind run by Erebus with the young drivers to focus on essential driving skills, data logging interpretation and understanding how their driving style is logged and interpreted by the engineers.

Hedge, 18, is a Kiwi with Porsche Carrera Cup experience, was the New Zealand Formula Ford Champ and the only rookie to win the NZ Toyota 86 Series.

Trans Am driver Gurton has experience in Radicals, Formula Ford and Toyota 86s, while Sinni currently leads the Victorian Formula Ford Series and Hayman is a front-runner in the Aussie Racing Cars series.

“These young drivers have all been selected due to their experience and their results across their careers so far,” Erebus CEO Barry Ryan said.

“These kinds of experiences are not only beneficial to the young drivers but they also help us start to identify who to look out for in the next couple of years.

“We really can’t wait to see how they go and how this can help them in the next step of their careers.”

The sessions will be led by Erebus driver Will Brown and his race engineer Tom Moore.

All four drivers, plus Erebus personnel will head to Winton for their test on Tuesday, June 7.

They will be joined by Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway as they make their long-awaited track debut aboard their #51 Bathurst wildcard.
