JACK Le Brocq is set to return to Erebus Motorsport, V8 Sleuth understands.
News emerged yesterday that the two-time Repco Supercars Championship race winner was the favourite to replace Triple Eight-bound Will Brown.
It’s now believed that a confirmation announcement will lob in the coming weeks.
Erebus confirmed last Friday that Brown will depart the team at season’s end, despite being contracted for 2024.
Triple Eight has not yet played its cards publicly but is widely expected to do so imminently on two fronts: Brown’s recruitment, and Shane van Gisbergen’s departure to NASCAR.
For Le Brocq, who was off-contract, it would mark a reunion with the team which he raced for in the 2013 Australian GT Championship and which handed him his main game debut in 2015.
That came in the Sandown 500, co-driving the #4 Mercedes E63 with Ash Walsh.
From there, he has shifted around, with enduro campaigns at Tickford Racing and Kelly Racing separated by solo wildcards for MW Motorsport, and then full-time campaigns with Tekno Autosports, Tickford and now Matt Stone Racing.

The rumoured Erebus deal comes at a time when Le Brocq’s stocks have never been higher.
Le Brocq and MSR have cashed in on Gen3’s introduction, the #34 Truck Assist Camaro qualifying inside the top five on eight occasions already this season.
He holds eighth in the championship, with the highlight being delivering MSR’s first ever Supercars Championship race win in Darwin.

Until recently, Le Brocq had been thought likely to re-sign with MSR, but the sudden chance to join Erebus – which currently leads both the drivers’ and teams’ championships – would seem too good an opportunity to pass up.
