A FAMOUS motorsport surname is set to join the TCR Australia grid next month at Winton.
Clay Richards will make his debut when the hot hatch series heads to northern Victoria for Round 3 of the season.
It has been a big year already for the third-generation driver, whose 2023 motorsport activities began with him partaking in the annual Garry Rogers Motorsport Combine.
Richards has since competed in New Zealand’s North Island Endurance Series and the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia Scholarship Series.
V8 Sleuth understands Richards will line up in TCR aboard a Melbourne Performance Centre Audi RS 3 LMS.
It’s not yet clear whether the appearance will extend beyond a one-off at the June 9-11 event.
Either way, Richards’ addition to the grid is good news at a time when field size has come under scrutiny in TCR Australia.
Just 13 cars were entered in each of the opening two rounds this year, at Symmons Plains and Phillip Island.
The season is building up to its two-pronged presence on the inaugural TCR World Tour calendar, at Sydney Motorsport Park and Mount Panorama in November.
